Tire pressure monitor (TPM [RDK]) messages - GF40.15-P-0001-08CEA

REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE

The tire pressure monitor (TPM [RDK]) system messages are shown in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1). Depending on the warning message, the tire pressure monitor warning lamp (A1e66) is also continuously actuated.

IMPORTANT In the event of a malfunction of the tire pressure monitor system, the tire pressure monitor warning lamp in the IC flashes for t = 60 s. Then it will be actuated permanently.

In the event of messages in the IC a distinction is made between the following two types:

The menu displays in the instrument can be called up via the system selection button (S110s3) and via the forward and back button (S110s1) in the left multi function steering wheel button group (S110) in the Service menu and in the Tire Pressure submenu.

Warning messages are issued automatically.

Status display of TPM [RDK] system after ignition restart ("Circuit 15 ON" status). There are still no high frequency (HF) signals (433 MHz) available from the left front tire pressure sensor, right front tire pressure sensor, left rear tire pressure sensor and right rear tire pressure sensor. When the wheels are already known to the system, the pressure picture appears shortly after the start of a trip. It can take a few minutes until the position identification is learnt with new wheels.

IMPORTANT A manual restart is possible by pressing the scroll forward and back button in the lower subfield and then the OK n/button(S110s6).

Warning message 1

The TPM [RDK] system is nonfunctional. Possible causes are:

IMPORTANT In the event of a malfunction of the tire pressure monitor system, the tire pressure monitor warning lamp in the IC flashes for t = 60 s. Then it will be actuated permanently. Following the next ignition sequence, this procedure will repeat itself until the fault is eliminated.

Warning message 2

The tire pressure monitor has detected a significant pressure loss in one or more tires (p < p_specified -20 %). The wheel position is not assigned.

IMPORTANT The tire pressure monitor warning lamp is actuated permanently and an acoustic message takes place.

Warning message 3

The tire pressure monitor system has detected a rapid pressure loss in one or more tires (dp/dt > 0.2 bar/min). The corresponding wheel position is assigned.

IMPORTANT The tire pressure monitor warning lamp is actuated permanently and an acoustic message takes place.

Warning message 4

The tire pressure monitor control unit is unable to receive signals from the tire pressure sensors.

Possible cause: Wheels without tire pressure sensor are fitted.

Warning message 5

The TPM [RDK] system is temporarily inactive because of transmission interference or because the voltage is too high/low.
