Remove/install door module - AR72.10-P-0900CW

MODEL 204 

MODEL 212 except CODE (Z04) Light armoring

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being pinched or crushed  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, liftgates or sliding roof Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  due to hands being crushed when window glass is not secure Secure window to prevent it from falling down. AS67.00-Z-0002-01A
1 Loosen left and right crank window (2), completely push upward and secure against falling down with suitable adhesive tape (3).   AR72.10-P-1900CW 
2 Remove mirror triangle paneling (4).    
3 Remove damping material (5) from mirror triangle. On model 204 with code (523) MB Audio 20 radio or
with code (510) Audio 20 including CD changer or
with code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio or
with code (511) Audio 50 APS including CD changer or
with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or
With code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer
 
4 Remove electrical line (6) from retaining clip (7). On vehicles with code (523) MB Audio 20 radio or
with code (510) Audio 20 including CD changer or
with code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio or
with code (511) Audio 50 APS including CD changer or
with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or
With code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer
 
5 Remove outside door handle    
6 Take off gaskets (8)    
7 Loosen bolts (9), push bearing bracket (10) toward front and unhook    
8 Disconnect electrical connectors (12) from left front door control unit (N69/1) or right front door control unit (N69/2) IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors (12) differs depending on the vehicle equipment.

9 Remove bolts (14) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA72.10-P-1005-01S 
10 Cut rivet heads out of rivets (13, arrow). INSTALLATION IMPORTANTInstallation  : Fasten door module (1) with rivets (13, arrow) to front door (11).

    Rechargeable drill/screwdriver  
    Hand riveting tool  
11 Loosen door module (1) from front door (11) and remove. NOTES Do not bend door module (1), because bent door module (1) must be replaced.

12 Press out any pieces of rivet remaining in the inner door panel. SPECIAL TOOL Fig 6
13 Completely remove rivet residues and drilling chips from front door (11). NOTES Remove all rivet residue. Remaining rivet residues cause corrosion damage on front door (11).  
    Wet/dry vacuum cleaner  
14 Install in the reverse order
