Direction indicator in inside rearview mirror (with code (245) Electronic compass)

The compass module with display senses the terrestrial magnetic field and indicates the direction of travel at intervals of 45°. Possible displays are "N", "NW", "W", "SW", "S", "SE", "E" or "NE". The direction indicator in the inside rearview mirror can be switched on and off with the aid of the compass display button.

The following settings are required to correctly indicate the direction:

Compass module calibration

The compass module with display must be calibrated for correct function. For this purpose hold and actuate compass indicator button (t = approx. 4 s) until the system "C" appears in the inside rearview mirror. Then drive the vehicle in circles slowly. If the direction is indicated in the inside rearview mirror, the calibration is completed.

IMPORTANT On vehicles as of 1.6.10 a suitable aid is required for actuating the compass display button.

Setting for magnetic field zone

Since the magnetic field of the earth is subject to fluctuations, the earth globe is subdivided into 15 magnetic field zones to allow exact display of the direction. The magnetic field zone must be adjusted manually. To adjust the current magnetic field zone press compass display button for t = approx. 2 s until the correct number for the magnetic field zone (1 to 15) is indicated. The desired magnetic field zone can be set by repeatedly pressing the compass display button. After setting the magnetic field zone do not press the compass display button again until the direction is indicated.
