Location
The satellite digital audio radio (SDAR) control unit is located in the trunk under the trunk mat on the crossmember.
Task
The satellite digital audio radio (SDAR) control unit enables the "Sirius Satellite Radio" provider stations to be received.
Function
The multifunction antenna (A28/11) receives all 3 channels (Sat 1, Sat 2, terrestrial station). It forwards the signals over a coaxial cable to the satellite digital audio radio (SDAR) control unit. The satellite digital audio radio (SDAR) control unit receives and decodes the signals. Finally the satellite digital audio radio (SDAR) control unit transmits the decoded, digital radio signals over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the radio and for vehicles with code (810) Sound system to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3).
Audio signal output then takes place over discrete lines through the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Center instrument panel speaker
- Bass speaker
- Left rear surround speaker
- Right rear surround speaker
For vehicles except code (810) Sound system, audio output takes place over discrete lines directly from the radio via the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Center instrument panel speaker
