A distinction is made between the following procedures:

• Speaker output in vehicles with code (810) Sound system 
• Speaker output in vehicles without code (810) Sound system 
• Speaker actuation in the event of voice output 

Speaker actuation in the emergency call system (with code (359) TELE AID emergency call system) is described in a separate document:

Speaker output in vehicles with code (810) Sound system 

The audio signals are routed to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) by the audio unit via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST), where they are amplified and output over the following speakers via direct lines:

• Left front door speaker (H4/1)
• Right front door speaker (H4/2)
• Left rear door speaker (H4/3)
• Right rear door speaker (H4/4)
• Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
• Bass speaker (H4/29) (model 204.0/2/3)
• Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
• Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)

On model 204.9 the audio signal for the rear bass speaker (H4/38) runs from the sound system amplifier control unit to the rear bass speaker amplifier (N40/9) and from there via direct lines to the rear bass speaker.

On model 204.0 the right rear surround speaker is integrated into the bass speaker.

The center instrument panel speaker in vehicles with code (359) TELE AID emergency call system and active vehicle-related services is used for voice output and actuated by the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) via direct lines.

Speaker output in vehicles without code (810) Sound system 

The audio signals are output over the following speakers by the audio unit using direct lines:

• Left front door speaker
• Right front door speaker
• Left rear door speaker
• Right rear door speaker

Speaker actuation in the event of voice output 

Only the front speakers are actuated for voice output for telephone, navigation or the voice control system (VCS). In vehicles without code (810) Sound system, these are the following speakers:

• Left front door speaker
• Right front door speaker

On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the following speaker is also actuated:

• Center instrument panel speaker
