Location

The radio is located in the center console.

Task

The radio is the central operating unit for the entertainment and communication systems integrated into the vehicle. It makes the following system components available:

Audio system
Communications System

The radio generates a structured and standard interface, which is displayed on the audio/COMAND display.

Function

The buttons for the control panel on the radio are read in and relayed to the central computer. When buttons are pressed, they are then processed in the central computer. If the On/Off button on the radio is pressed, the radio switches on. The volume is adjusted on the On/Off button for each set audio source, by turning it. Pressing the function keys induces a switch over to the system component required by the user.

CD drive

The integrated CD drive enables audio CDs to be played (including MP3 format).
