	Checking
	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.	-
1	Hoist vehicle with lifting platform until wheels are free		AR00.60-P-1000V
2	Check bellows (11) for damage	Never check bellows (11) by pressing in or around the plastic bead. This results in damage to the bellows (11) and causes leaks. Perfect sealing of the bellows (11) is required for the function of the rack-and-pinion steering. Stretch the bellows by turning the steering onto left and right lock and check for damage (cracks, chafing marks etc.) in the process and replace if necessary.
	Remove/install
3	Remove the front wheels
	Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary		AP40.10-P-4050V
4	Remove lower engine compartment paneling		AR61.20-P-1105V
5	Remove track rod (10)		AR46.40-P-0200V
6	Unscrew lock nut (10f)
7	Detach outer clamp (11b)
8	Detach inner clamp (11a)
9	Pull off bellows (11)	Installation:  Replace O-ring (23k)
		Installation with boot with diaphragm valve:  Push the boot onto the steering gear housing and position.	-
10	Check steering rack and inner tie rod thrust joint for corrosion and play	If the steering rack is already corroded and the rack-and-pinion steering is leaking as a result, the rack-and-pinion steering must be replaced complete: ↓
		Remove/install rack-and-pinion steering.	AR46.20-P-0600V
		If the ball joint is worn, replace the inside track rod: ↓
		Remove/install inner tie rod with axial joint.	AR46.40-P-0201V
11	Install in the reverse order
