Cellular mobile telephone network, registering
Requirements:
- SIM card is inserted.
- Device switched on (on/off button).
If necessary, enter your PIN (Personal Identification Number) (system-dependent). After this, the telephone establishes a connection with the most favorably located base transceiver station (BTS) and transmits the data via the base station controller (BSC) to the mobile service switching center (MSC) . The access to the network is authorized after the necessary data have been inquired at the mobile switching center (MSC). After registration is completed, the name of the network (e.g. D1 or O2 , etc.) is shown on the telephone display.
If the most favorably located mobile switching center (MSC) is not the one in which the cellular mobile telephone subscriber was registered when the subscriber registered the mobile telephone in the home location register (HLR) , the subscriber is then registered in the visitor location register (VLR ) present there. This MSC then connects to the subscriber's MSC, in the HLR of which he is registered as a mobile cellular phone subscriber, whereupon access to the network is authorized after the required data has been checked. In this way, the MSC can locate the subscriber and forward incoming calls to the subscriber, as long as the subscriber is registered in the network. Any change in subscriber location is updated in the MSC.
