Prepare vehicle for installing welding device
The following operation steps are shown on model 221 on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Loosen front suspension strut nuts (2) on front end and remove.
- 2.1 Remove suspension strut reinforcement (3) from suspension strut tower.
Remove suspension strut reinforcement (3) only on vehicles with code 487 Active Body Control (ABC).
Prepare welding device.
- 3 Loosely screw on spacer sleeves (1 e) on suspension strut tower at suspension strut bolt thread.
On vehicles with code Z07 Top protection, use spacer sleeves (1e) instead of
uprights.
- 4 Install base plate (1) on spacer sleeves (1 e).
Pay attention to proper installation position
- 5 Position bolts (1f).
- 6 Tighten front upper longitudinal member extension (1 b) to base plate (1) with bolt (1j)
- 7 Tighten rear upper longitudinal member extension (1 a) to base plate (1) with bolt (1h)
- 8 Tighten bolts (1f)
Shown on vehicles with suspension strut removed
Install welding device
- 9 Install bottom reinforcement link rod (1 c) and fasten to front upper longitudinal member extension (1 b) with bolt (1 k).
- 10 Tighten fitted bolt (1 q) to front upper longitudinal member (1 b) with bolt (1 o) and washer (1 p).
- 11 Tighten upper reinforcement link rod (1d) to bottom reinforcement link rod (1c) with bolt (1s).
- 12 Tighten upper reinforcement link rod (1d) to front upper longitudinal member with fitted bolt (1m).
- 13 Tighten rear upper longitudinal member (1a) to upper longitudinal member with bolt (1 i).
