	Remove/install
	Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.	Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.	AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

1	Turn key in ignition switch to position "0".	On vehicles with Keyless Go, code 889: Press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off
2	Open engine hood and raise to vertical position		AR88.40-P-1000GZ
3	Pull off intake air duct (1)
4	Clean ESP hydraulic unit (2) at line connections	Before opening the brake system, clean the area around the separation point thoroughly. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system
5	Unscrew union nuts of pressure circuit and secondary brake circuit (3) and union nuts of brake lines (4) from the ESP hydraulic unit (2)	Before detaching, mark brake lines relative to corresponding line connection; when doing so, observe markings on ESP hydraulic unit (2). Trace line routing to the corresponding wheel. Collect any brake fluid which runs out in a fluff-free, absorbent cloth. Seal brake lines and line connections on ESP hydraulic unit (2) immediately with stop plugs in order to prevent ingress of foreign bodies. Installation:  Do not mix up brake lines; pay attention to markings.

6	Unlock ESP control unit connector (5) and disconnect from ESP control unit (N47-5)
7	Pull ESP hydraulic unit (2) with ESP hydraulic unit bracket (6) out of rubber supports (8)	Flush off brake fluid which runs out in the area of the longitudinal frame member with water in order to avoid paint damage. Installation:  Coat rubber supports (8) with liquid lubricant to allow easier installation.

8	Detach ESP hydraulic unit bracket (6) from ESP hydraulic unit (2); to do so, remove bolts (7)		*BA42.45-P-1003-01J

10	Install in the reverse order

	Checking
	Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the running engine	Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
