CLEAN Clean
3 Clean the area around the cap on the brake fluid reservoir LU cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
4 Unscrew cap on brake fluid reservoir and connect filling and bleeding unit IMPORTANT Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions.

5 Detach corresponding complete wheel Model 164 AP40.10-P-4050Z
Model 166 AP40.10-P-4050EW
6 Remove bleed screw on brake caliper (2) of the brake circuit to be tested and connect pressure tester (3) NOTES Pressure testers (3) for hydraulic fluid systems must not be used for systems with brake fluid. Otherwise, the brake fluid will be mixed with mineral oil. This results in brake failure!
NOTES Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions. Otherwise, incorrect operation and measurement error can occur!
IMPORTANT Collect escaping brake fluid.
Pressure tester

7 Bleed pressure tester (3)
8 Switch off filling and bleeding unit and vent pressure from brake fluid reservoir
HIGH PRESSURE TEST High-pressure check
9 Produce vacuum in brake booster IMPORTANT To do so, abruptly release accelerator pedal at medium engine speed.
10 Insert brake pedal jack (4) and read off and note brake line pressure NOTES Only use the brake pedal jack (4) in combination with the adapter (6) and attach as shown. Otherwise, damage and measurement error can occur.
IMPORTANT In addition, immediately depress the brake pedal (5) as far as possible and install brake pedal jack (4) with adapter (6) as shown. Read off and note the brake line pressure after a few seconds on the high pressure gauge of the pressure tester (3).

SPECIAL TOOL Fig 3
SPECIAL TOOL Fig 4
11 Read off and note brake line pressure again IMPORTANT After 5 minutes.
During the 5 minute duration of the test, the brake line pressure must not drop more than 5 % of the measurement that was read off and noted at the start.

HIGH PRESSURE TEST Low-pressure testing
12 Remove vacuum in brake booster IMPORTANT To do so, switch off engine, remove brake pedal jack (4) and depress brake pedal (5) several times.
13 Produce brake line pressure of 3 bar IMPORTANT To do so, press down on brake pedal (5) as far as possible and attach brake pedal jack (4) with adapter (6) as shown. Slowly turn back knob (1) until the low-pressure gauge on the pressure tester (3) displays a brake line pressure of 3 bar.
NOTES Only use the brake pedal jack (4) in combination with the adapter (6) and attach as shown. Otherwise damage and measurement error can occur.

14 Read off brake line pressure again IMPORTANT After 2 minutes.
The previously set brake line pressure must not  fall throughout the 2 min duration of the test

15 Remove brake pedal jack (4)
16 Detach pressure tester (3) and screw bleed screw into brake caliper (2) IMPORTANT Collect escaping brake fluid.
