Otherwise, at drying temperatures in excess of 60 °C, irreversible changes in shape may occur on plastic parts.

Repair options:

Replacement of parts

In the event of coarse damage such as, e.g. cracks in the plastic or deep scratches down to the plastic, the parts are to be replaced.
We also recommend replacing small parts such as outside mirror housings, hubcaps, door handles and rear door trim strip and protective bumper strips in the event of any paint damage.

Paint repair

For slight damage such as short or flat scratches, stone marks or when being painted in another color, a post-repair refinishing is possible.

Plastic parts to be painted should be removed from the vehicle for painting. Integrated trim pieces must be dismantled.

The plastic parts must be placed or suspended for painting in such a way that their shape remains intact during force drying.

This is made much easier by the use of a general-purpose painting stand developed especially for painting jobs on plastic parts, as it allows individual components as well as complete sets of detachable parts to be suspended for painting.

On clear-coat systems with higher scratch resistance be sure to follow the instructions provided (service information).

Damage to bumper covers and protective bumper strips in the form of scuff marks deeper than 1 mm, cracks and holes can be repaired using materials from the Teroson plastics repair kit, provided this is cost-effective.
