	Remove/install
	Risk of injury  caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units.	Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100°C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply.	AS91.00-Z-0001-01A

1	Move front seat (1) forward and up
2	Set front seat backrest upright
3	Remove bolts (3)	Replace the bolts (3).

4	Unclip belt end fitting cover (7)		Fig 2
5	Remove the screw (8) and remove belt end fitting		*BA91.40-P-1001-01M
6	Position front seat (1) to rear
7	Remove bolts (2)	Replace bolts (2).

8	Move front seat backrest back slightly
9	Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit	On vehicles with code (889) Keyless-Go, press the Keyless-Go start and stop button repeatedly until the ignition is switched off. Remove the transmitter key from the vehicle and store it at a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m).
10	Raise front seat (1) at front
11	Disconnect electrical connector (4)
12	Disconnect electrical connector (9)	On vehicles with code (873) Heater right and left front seats
13	Disconnect electrical connector (5) and electrical connector (6) from the driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1) or passenger-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/2)	On vehicles with code (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) or with code (242) Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory
14	Release driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1) or passenger- side front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/2) out of the retaining rails (10) and remove	On vehicles with code (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) or with code (242) Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory
15	Detach pneumatic line (11)	On vehicles with code (404) Left multicontour seat, with code (405) Right multicontour seat, with code (433) Left dynamic seat, incl. multicontour seat or with code (434) Right dynamic seat, incl. multicontour seat
16	Attach protective cover to rear bench seat and center console
17	Lift front seat (1) to the rear and out of the vehicle's rear door	Aid of helper required.
18	Install in the reverse order
19	Normalize front seat (1) using STAR DIAGNOSIS	On vehicles with code (433) Left dynamic seat, incl. multicontour seat or with code (434) Right dynamic seat, incl. multicontour seat
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04A
20	Perform initial startup of weight sensors	After installing the front passenger seat on vehicles with code (494) USA version. Menu item "Initial startup of weight sensors".
