Adjust front axle toe - AR40.20-P-0264T

  Check and adjust     
1.1 Switch off the easy entry/exit for the driver seat and steering wheel Vehicles with memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) code 275
NOTES Otherwise the driver seat and steering wheel move into a different position if the driver door is opened or closed for example. The upper frame may be damaged when the holding device (055) is installed.
IMPORTANT The system is switched off via the buttons on the steering wheel in the "Comfort" menu of the multifunction display.
 
2 Swivel the sun visor to one side and fix the steering wheel in the center position using the retainer (055) NOTES Carefully mount retainer (055), in order to avoid damaging the steering wheel or the headliner.

3 Check center position of steering gear and steering wheel IMPORTANT The steering gear is in the center position when the marking on the cap matches the marking on the control valve housing (arrow). If necessary, shift steering wheel, see: ↓
Remove/install steering wheel

4 Insert wheel spreader (030) at the inside of the wheel at the front in the direction of travel IMPORTANT The elastic bearing of the transverse control arm and steering linkage produces a correspondingly large toe value that is reduced to the correct dimension in the ready-to-drive condition.

5 Counterhold tie rod (10) at the hexagon and loosen jam nut (10f)    
6 Adjust toe by turning the tie rods (10)   *BE40.20-P-1001-07A 
7 Tighten jam nut (10f) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.40-P-1002-01E 
8 Remove retainer (055) SPECIAL TOOL *129589012100
9 Remove wheel spreader (030) COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Wheel spreader Refer to GOTIS http://gotis.aftersales.mercedes-benz.com   
10 Check bellows for twisting and align if necessary
