Engine oil monitoring, function - GF00.20-P-2009SX

MODEL 221.0 with ENGINE 156, 272, 273, 629, 642 up to Model Year 8

MODEL 221.1 with ENGINE 156, 272, 273, 275, 629, 642 up to Model Year 8

MODEL 216.3 with ENGINE 273, 275 up to Model Year 8

The engine oil is a service item that can trigger a service request in the instrument cluster (A1). The remaining service items are assessed by the Active Service System PLUS (ASSYST PLUS) according to their service intervals and allocated in time to a due service.

Model 216.3 with engine 272, 273 and model 221.0/1 with engine 272, 273, 642

The oil level check switch (S43) constantly monitors the engine oil level. The engine oil level cannot be displayed upon driver request via the multifunction steering wheel (MFL) in the multifunction display (A1 p13). The oil level check switch can differentiate between 2 positions, in other words closed or open. This refers to the conditions.

"Minimum No" and "Minimum Yes".

A yellow engine oil level warning message "Check engine oil level during refueling stop" is displayed with "Circuit 15 ON", "Circuit 61 OFF" and one of the following conditions:

Model 216.3 with engine 275 and model 221.0/1 with engine 275, 629

The engine oil level, engine oil quality and engine oil temperature are monitored constantly by the oil sensor (oil level, temperature and quality) (B40).

Depending on the following factors, the engine oil level can be displayed in the multifunction display upon driver request via the multifunction steering wheel (MFL):

If the driver request occurs with "circuit 15 OFF", a message saying that circuit 15 should be switched on appears in the multifunction display. With "circuit 15 ON" the measurement is restarted and the driver is informed via the multifunction display that measurement is in progress.

In addition, messages containing the following can appear in the multifunction display:

The following engine oil level warnings are displayed in yellow:

The engine oil level or engine oil warnings with the following content are displayed in red:

The CDI control unit (N3/9) (model 221.0/1) or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (model 216.3, 221.0/1) must also be read out via STAR DIAGNOSIS for diagnostic purposes.

The instrument cluster receives the relevant parameters via the central CAN from the central gateway control unit (N93), which includes the calculation algorithms and performance maps of the ASSYST PLUS. The central gateway control unit receives the data from the CDI control unit or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit via the chassis CAN.
