	Remove/install
	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

1	Deactivate easy entry/exit	Engine 273 with code (275), Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors), for removal of left exhaust manifold (2)	AR54.30-P-1000-02ESX
2	Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position and secure steering wheel in place with a holding device	Engine 273 for removal of left exhaust manifold (2) The steering wheel must not be turned when the steering coupling is detached, otherwise the clock spring contact will be destroyed.	Fig 2

10	Remove heat shield under the catalytic converter from the bracket and transmission bell housing and remove to the rear	Engine 272.974
11	Remove heat shield between exhaust manifold and power electronics and remove downwards to the rear	Engine 272.974
12	Unscrew accessible nuts while the vehicle is raised (8, 9)	Engine 272, 273	*BA14.10-P-1001-01E

13	Unscrew nuts on exhaust manifold (1, 2)	Check studs for damage and replace if necessary. Replace nuts and gaskets. Engine 272, 273	*BA14.10-P-1001-01E

14.1	Remove exhaust manifold (1, 2) and take out seals (10, 11) downwards	Engine 272 without 4MATIC with engine 272.974: remove left exhaust manifold (2) upwards.
14.2	Remove exhaust manifold (1, 2) and take out seals (10, 11) upwards	For engine 272.974 both exhaust manifold (1, 2) are removed upwards.
	Clean
15	Clean sealing surfaces at cylinder head and exhaust manifold (1, 2)
16	Install in the reverse order
