REMOVING Removing     
NOTES Notes on remove/install rear window   see AH67.20-P-2000-01T 
1 Prepare 1-component adhesive cartridge IMPORTANT Heating time is approx. 60 minutes. see AR67.10-P-1000-12SX 
SPECIAL TOOL Intermediate piece
Cartridge preheat.

2 Unclip left and right drip rail and remove SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Fig 4
3 Lower rear side window On model 216  
4 Remove rear seat backrest On model 216 see AR91.12-P-1620SC
5 Remove paneling from left and right C-pillar Model 216 see AR68.30-P-4490SC
Model 221 AR68.30-P-4490SX
6 Unscrew nut (2) and remove ground (heated rear window) (W13)    
7 Disconnect heated rear window connector (R1x1)    
8 Mask off areas around rear-end window (1) with suitable textile adhesive tape NOTES Masking prevents damaging vehicle paintwork in repair area.  
DANGER Risk of injury  due to tear or warming up of cutting wire and through glass splinters when cutting out glued windows Wear protective gloves and safety glasses. see AS67.00-Z-0004-01A 
9 Cut out rear window (1) with Roll out 2004 window removal tool and remove. IMPORTANT Aid of helper is required to remove rear-end window (1) from body flange.

10 Unclip electrical plug contacts (3) from rear window antenna amplifier module (A2/12) IMPORTANT The electrical plug contacts (3) on the rear window antenna amplifier module (A2/12) are destroyed when cutting out the rear window (1).  
11 Remove shaped rubber gasket from body flange in lower IMPORTANT The shaped rubber gasket is destroyed area when the rear window (1) is cut out.  
INSTALLING Install     
12 Prepare body flange for installation of window NOTES The gluing area on the body flange must be absolutely free of dust and grease to prevent a decrease in the gluing force when installing window. see AR67.20-P-2000-09SX 
NOTES General notes about painting the body flange in the glazing area Pay attention to notes concerning the preparation of new parts such as the A-pillar, the roof or the side walls.

Touch-up pencil see *BR00.45-Z-1012-07A 
Hepox 2-component EP primer filler 4017 (Spray Max) see *BR00.45-Z-1050-07A 
13 Align rear window (1) in body opening IMPORTANT Aid of helper required. see AR67.20-P-2000-04SX 
SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge

Distance between upper edge of shaped rubber gasket and rear edge of roof see *BE67.20-P-1001-01K 
14 Prepare rear window (1) for installation NOTES The gluing area on the rear-end window (1) must be absolutely free of dust and grease to prevent paint adhesion problem of the adhesive material when glazing. see AR67.10-P-1000-03SX 
Repair kit see *BR00.45-Z-1089-02A 
15 Clip new electrical plug contacts (3) into rear window antenna amplifier module (A2/12)    
16 Install rubber channel seal in lower area of body flange    
17 Open driver-side window NOTES The side window in the driver door must be opened during the curing time to prevent the rear-end window (1) from being pressed out by the air when the doors are closed.  
18 Apply adhesive material NOTES Install rear-end window (1) on body flange within 10 minutes after applying glue, otherwise adhesive force of glue starts to decrease.
IMPORTANT Uniformly apply glue in shape of bead at a height of approx. 13 mm.

19 Install rear window (1) IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
IMPORTANT Fix in place rear window (1) with suitable adhesive tape.

20 Connect ground (heated rear window) (W13)    
21 Screw on nut (2)    
22 Connect heated rear window connector (R1x1)    
23 Install paneling on C-pillars Model 216 see AR68.30-P-4490SC

24 Install rear seat backrest On model 216 see AR91.12-P-1620SC
25 Clean rear window (1) Cleaner see *BR00.45-Z-1007-04A
