The trip computer (RRE) can display the travel distance covered. The display takes place as of position 2 (circuit 15 ON) of the transmitter key (A8/1), if the menu item "Trip" is called up. Whether the display takes place in kilometers or miles depends on the coding of the national version of the instrument cluster (A1).

Once the menu item "Trip" has been activated via the system selection button (S110s3) of the multifunction steering wheel (MFL), by pressing the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) of the multifunction steering wheel the mileage driven "After start" or "After reset" is shown in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster.

4 wheel speed signals are evaluated for the travel distance. The signals are placed on the chassis CAN by the ESP control unit (N47-5), passed on to the central gateway (N93) control unit and transmitted to the instrument cluster via the central CAN.

If the display of travel time or travel distance exceeds the maximum display value, the travel time and travel distance is reset automatically. This serves to retain relationship between the trip time and the travel distance. Resetting the travel time and mileage is triggered automatically when the travel time exceeds 999 h or the mileage 9999 km.
