Retrofit Universal Media Interface - AZ82.85-P-0004CX

REMOVING Remove     
NOTES Notes on avoiding damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Move front passenger seat toward rear    
2 Remove door sill from front passenger footwell    
3 Detach edge guard in area of A-pillar trim and door sill in front passenger footwell    
4 Remove paneling on A-pillar in front passenger footwell    
5 Remove front right floor covering    
6 Remove glove box   AR68.10-P-1200CW
7 Remove instrument cluster   AR54.30-P-6015CW
8 Remove radio (A2)   AR82.60-P-7502CW
9 Remove Audio/COMAND display   AR82.60-P-7722CW
10 Remove center air vent   AR83.10-P-4503CW
11 Remove covering for speaker of center instrument panel speaker IMPORTANT To do so use SPECIAL TOOL long wedge to carefully unclip speaker covering starting from front and then remove the speaker covering.

INSTALLING Install     
12 Retrofit Universal Media Interface adapter wiring harness   AZ82.85-P-0004-02CX 
13 Retrofit low voltage differential signal (LVDS) head unit wiring harness and LVDS display wiring harness   AZ82.85-P-0004-03CX 
14 Retrofit GPS antenna (A2/23)   AZ82.61-P-0003-02CX 
15 Install radio (A2)   AR82.60-P-7502CW
16 Install Audio/COMAND display   AR82.60-P-7722CW
17 Retrofit connecting cable (2) Rechargeable drill/screwdriver
Body jig saw

18.1 Strap down the electrical connector for the media interface previously installed in the glove box to the vehicle wiring harness and wrap felt tape around it On vehicles with  code (518) Media Interface  
18.2 Strap down the electrical connector for the AUX connection previously installed in the glove box to the vehicle wiring harness and wrap felt tape around it On vehicles without  code (518) Media interface.  
19 Retrofit Universal Media Interface control unit (1)   AZ82.85-P-0004-04CX 
20 Document retrofitted equipment via vehicle documentation (VeDoc) IMPORTANT Attach "Universal Media Interface retrofitted as per AZ82.85-P-0004CX " note under field organization text for design group 82.  
21 Connect Star Diagnosis and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN)    
22 Perform retrofit variant coding IMPORTANT Using STAR DIAGNOSIS carry out variant coding for activating the functions.
  • Using XENTRY, manually code vehicles up to production period 30.5.09, to do so set "Customer-specific settings" of "Universal Media Interface (UMI)" instrument cluster to "installed".
  • Code vehicles as of production period 1.6.09 with software calibration number (SCN), to do so log on navigation by entering the 3-digit codes "56o" into the instrument cluster.

    Make sure here that the third digit must be the letter "o" for Oscar.

 
23 Disconnect Star Diagnosis    
24 Run function check on Universal Media Interface IMPORTANT It is only possible to display information from the Universal Media Interface via instrument cluster on vehicles with code (442) Comfort multifunction steering wheel.
