	Remove/Install
1	Move selector lever into position "N"
2	Turn key in electronic ignition switch control unit to position "0"
3	Remove gaiter (1) from cover (2)	If necessary fit installation wedge at points marked with arrows.

4	Turn gaiter (1) inside out over selector lever handle (3) and release plastic nut (3a)	Turn plastic nut (3a) 90° counterclockwise. Installation:  The elastic bands (1a) of the gaiter (1) must be placed over the selector lever handle (3) before installation.
5	Pull selector lever handle (3) off selector lever rod (4)	To avoid damaging gaiter (1) only pull on selector lever handle (3)
6	Lever cover (2) out of cover (5) of center console.	If necessary fit installation wedge at points marked with arrows.

7	Unplug electrical connector at transmission mode switch (S16/5) and remove cover (2)
8.1	Unclip transmission mode switch (S16/5) from cover (2)	If necessary To avoid damaging cover (2) and transmission mode switch (S16/5), remove the 6 locking clips of the transmission mode switch (S16/5) from the back using a screwdriver.
9	Install in the reverse order
10.1	Read out fault memory and erase if necessary	After installing new transmission mode switch (S16/5)
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS, read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04A
		STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system	*WH58.30-Z-1048-13A
