Remove/install paneling on top of center column - AR68.30-P-1077V

MODIFICATION NOTES

20.3.07 Mounting and adjustment for installation position of upper center column paneling modified Step 7
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
1 Open Vario roof until rear shelf main flap (20) is positioned vertically as shown.    
2 Move left and right front seat (2) upward and toward front.    
3 Fold seat backrest forward    
4 Disconnect electrical connector (15) for belt tensioner sensor (B48/3) Only on front passenger seat on vehicles as of 1.6.06 with Code (494) USA version  
5 Unscrew bolt (3) and move belt end fitting (4) out of paneling (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA91.40-P-1001-01A 
6 Unscrew screws (6) and remove cover (7)    
7 Unlatch clips (17). IMPORTANTInstallation:  Switch on ignition and fold down rear shelf main flap (20) by actuating the soft top actuation switch. Adjust height of upper center column paneling (1) so that the side flap (18) makes slightly contact with the lug (19) (arrow B). Then latch clips (17).  
8 Unclip upper center column paneling (1) from clip (8) and clamp (14) with assembly wedge. IMPORTANTInstallation:  Insert guides (9) behind rear paneling (arrow A). Position seal (21) on upper center column paneling (1).

9 Remove cable tie (11) and disconnect electrical connector (10) Only on vehicles with code (523) Audio 20 MB radio
or with code (525) Audio 50 APS MB radio
or with code (527) COMAND APS (with navigation)
or with code (529) HIGH Class Japan
or with Code (530) COMAND APS USA (with Navigation)
or with Code (533) Front and rear speaker - without radio or
with Code (535) Audio 20 CD radio, USA
 
10 Route seat belt (12) through upper center column paneling (1) and remove upper center column paneling (1)    
11 Unscrew bolts (13) and remove left rear speaker (H4/7) and right rear speaker (H4/8) Only when replacing upper center column paneling (1) on vehicles with code (523) Audio 20 MB radio
or with code (525) Audio 50 APS MB radio
or with code (527) COMAND APS (with navigation)
or with code (529) HIGH Class Japan
or with Code (530) COMAND APS USA (with Navigation)
or with Code (533) Front and rear speaker - without radio-
or with Code (535) Audio 20 CD radio, USA
 
12 Install in the reverse order
