Remove/install rear suspension strut - AR32.25-P-1016R (with Active Body Control)

MODEL 230 with CODE (487) Active Body Control (ABC)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on active body control suspension   AH32.50-P-0001-01N 
1 Remove separating roller blind in luggage compartment    
2 Remove side paneling in the left or right of the luggage compartment   AR68.30-P-4800R
3.1 Separate connector for left rear plunger travel sensor (B22/1) or right rear plunger travel sensor (B22/6) Model 230.467 /474 /475 /476 /479
IMPORTANT Each time a suspension strut is exchanged the plunger travel sensors must be calibrated using STAR DIAGNOSIS in the control unit adaptations menu.
 
4 Unscrew nut (41f) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.25-P-1004-04B 
5 Remove rear wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary   AP40.10-P-4050Z
6 Relieve pressure in ABC system   AR32.50-P-0001-01N 
7 Separate quick-release coupling (41a, 41b) of hydraulic line NOTES Ensure that no dirt gets into the opened quick-release coupling (41a, 41b) as this can lead to the failure of the ABC system.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that the quick release coupling (41a, 41b) latches completely.
 
8 Remove paneling of spring control arm    
9 Remove bolt (41c) and nut (41d) on spring control arm (6) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.25-P-1005-04B 
10 Detach tie rod (4) on wheel carrier; to do this, unscrew nut (4a) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA35.20-P-1001-04C 
11 Detach left rear level sensor (B22/7) or right rear level sensor (B22/10) on center ball head (85e)    
12 Detach exhaust system at rear    
13 Detach spring control arm (6) from rear axle carrier; to do this, unscrew bolt (6a) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA35.20-P-1001-01A 
14 Press spring control arm (6) downwards and remove spring strut (41) IMPORTANT Do not damage boot of suspension strut (41). Do not bend the level sensor link rod and joints!  
REFER TO FORMS Dispose of suspension strut.   OS32.25-P-0122-01N 
15 Install in the reverse order    
16 Fill and bleed ABC system   AR32.50-P-0021N 
17 Aligning rear axle   AR40.20-P-0200R
