Remove/install power steering pump - AR46.30-P-0500RX (SL550)

MODEL 230 with ENGINE 273 with CODE (487) Active Body Control (ABC)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
IMPORTANT Notes on Active Body Control suspension   AH32.50-P-0001-01N
1 Open engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000R
2 Remove the left engine intake air duct    
3 Remove front engine cover    
4 Suction off oil from expansion reservoirs (3, 4) SPECIAL TOOL Fig 4
5 Loosen bolts (2a) of belt pulley (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1006-01S 
6 Remove poly-V belt (2b)   AR13.22-P-1202RX
7 Remove bolts (2a)    
8 Separate cable tie (7)Separate cable tie (7)    
9 Disconnect electrical connector (8) at suction restrictor valve (Y86/1)    
10 Open hose clamps (1c) and detach feed lines (3c, 4c) from power steering pump (9) SPECIAL TOOL Fig 3
11 Remove bolt (1s) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1032-01S 
12 Detach ABC pressure line (4b) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1014-01S 
13 Raise vehicle with vehicle lift    
14 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105R
15 Detach pressure line of power steering (3b) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1009-01S 
16 Loosen bolt (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1025-01S 
17 Remove nuts (9b, 9e) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut (9e) *BA46.30-P-1004-01S 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut (9b) *BA46.30-P-1005-01S 
18 Lower vehicle    
19 Remove bolts (9a) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1001-01S 
20 Position power steering pump (9) and detach belt pulley (2) Position power steering pump (9): Pull power steering pump (9) forwards until grub screws (9s) have moved out of the mount on the crankcase and out of bracket (9c). Push power steering pump (9) slightly to the side and back again.  
21 Remove power steering pump (9) upwards Replace self-tapping bolts if necessary, observing the following:
- Never re-tap the thread.
- Use original bolts only.
- Do not hold bolts at an angle when screwing in.
- Do not use an impact wrench.
 
22 Install in the reverse order    
23 Fill and bleed active body control (ABC)   AR32.50-P-0021N
