Remove/install front seat - AR91.10-P-1000R

MODIFICATION NOTES

19.1.06 Disconnect ground line replaced by switch off ignition Steps 9 and 25  
REMOVING Removing    
1 Completely open Vario roof    
2 Remove left and right door sill molding IMPORTANT As protection from damage.  
3 Retract head restraint in all the way    
4 Retract seat cushion and tilt backrest forwards    
5 Move front seat (1) upwards and to the front    
6 Remove rear bolts (2).    
7 Move front seat (1) to rear    
8 Remove front bolts (2)    
9 Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go, press the Keyless Go start/stop button repeatedly until the ignition is switched off. Remove the Keyless Go transmitter card or transmitter key from the vehicle and store beyond the reach of the transmitter (min. 2 m).  
10.1 With front seat tilted backwards (1), disconnect pneumatic line connector (3) using a suitable tool. Then seal off pneumatic line (3) using a suitable plug With front seat with code (404) Left multi-contour seat or code (405) Right multi-contour seat  
    NOTES Protect pneumatic line (3) from dirt penetration and do not kink, otherwise a new pneumatic line (3) must be installed.  
11 Disconnect electrical connector (4) from tilted-back front seat (1)    
12 Detach cable retainer (5) from tilted-back front seat (1)    
13 On the tilted-back front seat (1), disconnect electrical connector (6) from left front seat adjustment control unit with memory or right front seat adjustment control unit with memory    
14 On the tilted-back front seat (1), remove front seat rail covers (7) IMPORTANT Note correct installation position.  
15 Tilt front seat (1) forwards and remove rear seat rail covers (7) IMPORTANT Note correct installation position.  
16 Remove front seat (1) from vehicle with the aid of an assistant    
INSTALLING Install     
17 Insert front seat (1) into vehicle with the help of an assistant    
18 Tilt front seat (1) backwards and plug in electrical connector (4)    
19.1 Connect pneumatic line connector (3) to front seat (1) on tilted-back front seat (1) With front seat with code (404) Left multi-contour seat or code (405) Right multi-contour seat  
20 On the tilted-back front seat (1), connect electrical connector (6) to left front seat adjustment control unit with memory or right front seat adjustment control unit with memory    
21 Install cable retainer (5) at tilted-back front seat (1)    
22 Install front seat rail covers (7) on tilted-back front seat (1)    
23 Tilt front seat (1) forwards and install seat rail covers (7) NOTES When tilting the front seat (1), it must be ensured that the wiring harness (8) is routed beneath the cover (9) and beneath the seat rail (10) as shown. In addition, the wiring harness (8) must not be twisted. The color coding (arrow) on the wiring harness (8) must be at the opening in the floor covering. Failure to pay attention to these points when routing will cause the wiring harness (8) to become damaged when the front seat (1) is adjusted.  
24 Insert front bolts (2) and screw in slightly IMPORTANT Do not tighten front bolts (2).  
25 Insert transmitter key in EIS [EZS] control unit and switch on ignition    
26 Move front seat (1) forwards    
27 Tighten rear bolts (2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA91.10-P-1007-01A 
28 Check wiring harness (8) routing NOTES The wiring harness (8) must be routed beneath the seat rail (10) as shown, otherwise the wiring harness (8) could become damaged during front seat (1) adjustment.  
29 Move front seat (1) all the way back    
30 Tighten front bolts (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA91.10-P-1007-01A 
31 Install left or right entrance trim    
32 Move front seat (1) back to its original position and close the Vario roof
