State display in the instrument cluster (A1)

The state display in the emergency call system pushbutton switch (EMERGENCY CALL, S93/3)  serves as a function check of the EMERGENCY CALL system.

Every time the EMERGENCY CALL system is switched on the state display comes on for approx. 5 s and signals EMERGENCY CALL readiness.

If an emergency call is triggered, then the state display starts to flash on and off (0.5 s on, 0.5 s off, ...) and the instrument cluster's display shows the "Call buildup" message (see picture above, text field 1) followed by "Connection active" (see picture above, text field 2). If an emergency call was unable to be sent, the state display lights up and the instrument cluster's display shows the message "Call buildup failed" (see picture above, text field 3). If data is sent, the state display adopts the same status as prior to the emergency call being triggered.

If the EMERGENCY CALL system is in diagnostic mode, the state display also starts to flash on and off (1 s on, 1 s off, ...)

An EMERGENCY CALL system error is present when the state display does not go out 5 s after switching on or when it comes on at a later time.

IMPORTANT The emergency call system control unit (EMERGENCY CALL, A35/8)  can be coded using the handheld tester such that the state display does not light up despite a lack of authorization  (all additional system errors shown despite this).
