Remove/install BAS diaphragm travel sensor - AR42.31-P-6002GZ

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
1 Reduce vacuum in brake booster NOTES The sealing ring of the membrane travel sensor can be drawn into the brake booster under vacuum.
If this is the case, new brake booster must be fitted.
IMPORTANT Reduce vacuum by depressing the brake pedal several times.
 
2 Open engine hood and raise to vertical position   AR88.40-P-1000GZ
3 Detach rubber seal (1) at left partition wall section (4)    
4 Remove bolt (2)    
5 Unclip section of the left partition wall (4) at the clips (3)    
6 Unlock and disconnect diaphragm travel sensor connector (5)    
7 Raise lock washer (7) and pull BAS diaphragm travel sensor (6) out of the brake booster (arrow B) IMPORTANT Use a suitable tool, e.g. angled scriber (arrow A).
NOTES In order to prevent permanent set of spring lock washer (7), lift spring lock washer (7) by max. 10 mm.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Apply liquid lubricant to front of BAS diaphragm travel sensor (6).
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Install new O-ring (8).
INSPECTInstallation:  Check to make sure that spring lock washer (7) engages correctly in groove of BAS diaphragm travel sensor (6) and BAS brake booster.
 
    Lubricant *BR00.45-Z-1002-06A 
8 Install in the reverse order    
9 Read out fault memory STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system *WH58.30-Z-1048-13A 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
DANGER Risk of death  caused by body parts being pulled in by rotating vehicle wheels and roller dynamometer rollers Do not insert your hand into rotating parts.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Safeguard areas with rotating vehicle parts and dynamometer rollers against unauthorized access.
Safeguard roller dynamometer from unauthorized access.

10 Perform a function test    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Brake testing on test stand   AP42.00-P-4290GZ
