Pump out fuel - AR47.10-P-4001-01PB

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury  to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Only pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

  1. Open fuel filler flap and remove tank cap.
  1. 2.1 Vehicles without a stationary heater:

    Cut off nipple at connection (1) on right fuel tank chamber with a SPECIAL TOOL separating knife or sharp side cutting pliers on the broken line.

    NOTES Do not damage fitting (1) when cutting off. Before cutting off nipple have a suitable drain hose available since fuel leaks out!

  2. 2.2 Vehicles with code 228 Stationary heater:

    Detach fuel hose at fitting (1).

    NOTES Before detaching fuel hose have a suitable drain hose available since fuel leaks out!

  3. 3 Mount drain hose (2) on fitting (1) and lead end of hose into safety container (3).

    NOTES Do not damage the connection (1).

  4. 4 Empty right fuel tank chamber via drain hose (2) until fuel level indicator in Instrument cluster shows about "1/2".

  5. 5 Detach drain hose (2) from fitting (1) and mount cap (10) with hose clamp (11).

    NOTES Do not damage the connection (1).

    IMPORTANT Part no. of closing cap (10): A000 987 97 45

    Part no. of hose clamp (11): N900 288 010 001

  6. 6 Vehicles without code P98 Black Series: remove felt cover under the rear seat cushion (4).
  7. 7 Remove bolts and right cap (5) over fuel pump.

  8. 8 Engine 156: unlock and disconnect electrical connector for fuel pumped.
  9. 9.1 Model 203, 209 without code 494 USA version or code 835 South Korea version: remove ring nut (7) with SPECIAL TOOL claw wrench (6).

    IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace sectional sealing ring for ring nut (7). Marking on fuel level sensor and fuel tank must be aligned.

  10. 9.2 Model 203, 209 with code 494 USA version or code 835 South Korea version: Loosen screw clamp (12) and carefully force apart clamping ring (13) and take off.

    IMPORTANTInstallation:  Mount clamping ring (13) with screw clamp (12) as shown and tighten screw clamp (12) with SPECIAL TOOL torque wrench (020) and flexible extension (010) TORQUE SPECIFICATION

  11. 10 Swivel out fuel level sensor or locating cover from fuel tank.

  12. 11 Lead extraction hose (8) into right fuel tank chamber and extract fuel using the tank emptying device.

    NOTES Connect ground cable (9) of tank emptying device to vehicle in order to avoid electrostatic charge and arcing.

    IMPORTANT Observe manufacturer's operating instructions and notes.

  13. 12 Push extraction hose (8) over transfer duct in left fuel tank chamber.
  14. 13 Extract fuel from left chamber.

    IMPORTANT Alter position of extraction hose (8) a number of times to achieve full extraction of fuel.

  15. 14 Install in the reverse order.
