Position measurement 

The position counter in the overhead control panel control module (N70) counts the Hall sensor pulses depending on the recognized direction of rotation of the SR motor (M12m1).

The pop-up roof open position is defined as the zero position, i.e. when the pop-up roof is completely open, the position counter is at zero. The zero position is set by the synchronization function.

Direction recognition 

Two Hall sensors, SR Hall sensor 1 (M12b1) and SR Hall sensor 2 (M12b2) are located offset 90° on the SR motor shaft (M12m1). When the SR motor shaft (M12m1) turn one rotation, the Hall sensors output pulses. The overhead control panel control module (N70) reads in these Hall sensor pulses. From the chronological offset of the Hall sensor pulses the overhead control panel control module (N70) recognizes the direction of rotation of SR motor (M12m1).
