Adjusting headlamps when driving abroad - AH82.10-P-0001-01A

Model 164, 169, 171, 172, 203, 204.0/2/9, 207, 209, 211, 212, 215, 216, 218, 219, 220, 221, 230, 245, 251

Headlamp with projection system (with halogen, xenon or full LED headlamps)

IMPORTANT The headlamp conversion is generally mechanical.

Pressing a lever changes the position of a movable covering. The movable covering then covers up the part of the light beam which - through corresponding projection - is responsible for illuminating the edge of the roadway.

The lever for this purpose is located next to the bulb and can be accessed after removing the corresponding cover on the headlamp housing.

The lever's location, version and actuation are dependent on the manufacturer of the headlamp and the model.

Observe the safety regulations pertaining to handling high-voltage parts on xenon and bi-xenon headlamps.

The setting must be checked after the adjustment using a headlamp aimer.

With model 211  with code (621) Intelligent Light System (left-hand traffic) or code (622) Intelligent Light System (right-hand traffic), the headlamps are adjusted electronically using Star Diagnosis.

On model 216,  the headlamps are adjusted electronically using Star Diagnosis.

In model 172 and 204.9  with halogen headlamps, the headlamps are adjusted using the headlamp range control.

The headlamp setting must be checked before adjustment using a headlamp aimer.

In model 207 and model 212  up to 30.11.09 (YoM 09/2) with bi-xenon headlamps, the headlamps are adjusted electronically using Star Diagnosis.

In model 172, 207 and model 212  as of 1.12.09 (YoM 09/2) with bi-xenon headlamps, the headlamps are adjusted in the onboard computer via the instrument cluster.

In model 218  with bi-xenon and full LED headlamps, the headlamps are adjusted on the onboard computer using the instrument cluster.
