Floor-mounted shift
The center shifter console (17) is not screwed-on to the body side, but rather connected by a coupling arm (18) to the manual transmission and flexibly mounted over the swiveling lever (19) to the body tunnel. Vibration and noise transfer to the center shifter console and the body tunnel are prevented by means of rubber bushings on the coupling arm, the shift rod (8) and the two swiveling levers.
Transmission of shift motion from the gearshift lever to the inner shifting module (16) is performed over the shift cable (7) and transmission of the shifting motion by the shift rod. Both transmission elements are maintenance free.
This method of transmission has the following advantages:
- Precise and smooth shifting
- No transfer of major assembly motion to the gearshift lever and body tunnel
- The swiveling lever and rubber mount enable operational movement of the transmission in all directions
Shift operation
- Select shift gate
The shift cable transfers the transverse motion of the gearshift lever to the main shifter shaft (20), which is then rotated about its own axis.
- Select gear
The shift rod transfers the longitudinal motion of the gearshift lever onto the main shifter shaft, which is then induced to move in the longitudinal direction.
- Engage reverse gear
The shift lever handle is pulled upwards to overcome the reverse gear lock in the gearshift lever.
Single-rod gearshift
The single-rod gearshift is not screwed-on to the body side, but rather connected by a coupling arm (16) to the manual transmission and flexibly mounted over the body bearing (17) on the body tunnel. Vibration and noise transfer to the shift mechanism and the body tunnel are prevented by means of rubber bushings on the coupling arm and the body bearing.
Transmission of selector and shift motion of the gearshift lever (7) to the inner shifting module (10) takes place over the maintenance free shift rod (8) (single-rod gearshift).
This method of transmission has the following advantages:
- Precise and smooth shifting
- No transfer of major assembly motion to the gearshift lever and body tunnel
- The body bearing enables operational movement of the transmission in all directions
Shift operation
The transverse and longitudinal motion of the gearshift lever (selector and shift motion) are transmitted by the shift rod onto the main shifter shaft (9). The shift gate (11) transfers the shift operations to the corresponding shift fork (12, 13) or gearshift arm (14, 15).
The shift lever handle is pulled upwards to overcome the reverse gear lock in the gearshift lever.
