Purpose of easy-shift manual transmission control module (N15/6):

Only the easy-shift manual transmission control module (N15/6) is responsible for calculation of the shifting procedures obtained from the analog sensor values for the gear recognition, clutch path, shift request and hydraulic fluid pressure value.

The control module with 12 + 2-pin and 18-pin connector is secured by fuses.

To restrict processing loads for signal generation and transmission to a reasonable level, the transmission control system makes use of digital signals that are already available in the vehicle, and calculates some of the required variables from known signals. Examples for this are the calculation of the longitudinal and lateral acceleration or the determination of the transmission/output speed from the ESP and BAS control module (N47-5) and wheel speeds provided via the CAN bus. Special service programs process incoming signals to adapt form and quality for subsequent processing in the program environments encountered within the various control units.

The essential ASG control functions are stored within the ECU's modular software, where individual functions are processed in individual function blocks. Nevertheless the mutual interdependencies still lead to a linked operating network. The CPU rate defining the period in which each function block cycles once is approximately 10 ms.
