Function of locking of selector lever position "P"

One of the functions of the shift lock is to lock the selector lever in position "P". The selector lever is locked electronically.

The selector lever remains locked in position "P" when the brake is not pressed or no voltage supply (circuit 87) of the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) is available.

As of "circuit 15 ON" the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) actuates the R/P blocking magnets (89) when the brake pedal is pressed and therefore the stop lamp switch (S9/1) is actuated and when selector lever position "P" is detected.

The R/P locking magnet (89) releases the selector lever thus allowing the selector lever to be moved away from position "P".
