Location 

The hands-free system microphone group is installed on the upper side of the inside rearview mirror.

Task (up to model year 09) 

Receiving and forwarding the voice signals to the voice control system control unit (A35/11) or forwarding the voice signals to the Universal Cell phone Interface (UPCI [UHI]) control unit (N123/1).

Task (as of model year 09) 

The received voice signals are forwarded to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3). The spoken instructions are processed there and transformed into commands for the application to be operated.

IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (359), TELE AID emergency call system, the voice signal in an active telematics service is sent by the COMAND operating, display and controller unit straight to the emergency call system control unit (N123/4).
