A prerequisite for using the services is an emergency call system control unit (N123/4) communication module that has been authorized for using the relevant service. In other words, the communication module of the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) must have been configured with the telephone number of the relevant service provider in the factory. In the next step the user must authorize himself at the Service Center using this telephone number. Authorization is sometimes carried out in the factory.

The telematics services are activated by pressing the relevant button in the MB-Info and breakdown assistance button group (S93/6) or by making a manual emergency call by operating the SOS switch (S93/3s1) on the overhead control panel control unit (N70). Following activation, the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) transmits an SMS to the Service Center. A voice connection to the Service Center is set up at the same time.
