Radio mode, function - GF82.60-P-2001TM

Function requirements 

General information 

The antennas in the rear window receive high frequency (HF) signals for the ultra-short wave (FM), short wave (SW), medium wave (MW), and long wave (LW) radio frequency bands.

The following useful signals relevant for the radio reception are modulated onto these HF signals:

These HF signals are routed to the left antenna amplifier module (A2/64).

The left antenna amplifier module filters the radio frequency band frequencies from the HF signals received, and amplifies these. The amplified signals are then sent via coaxial cable to the tuner integrated in the radio where they are demodulated.

The demodulated audio signals in vehicles with code 810 Sound system are transferred by the radio via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier (N40/3) and amplified.

The audio is then output by the following speakers via direct lines:

IMPORTANT The audio signal for the bass box speaker travels from the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) to the sound system amplifier via MOST and from there, via direct lines to the bass box speaker via the subwoofer amplifier (N40/9).

IMPORTANT For vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the audio signals are finally amplified in the radio control panel and navigation unit and then sent to the following speakers via direct lines:

MW, LW, SW function sequence 

For the MW, LW and SW radio frequency bands, the useful signals are broadcast using amplitude modulation (AM). The AM tuner integrated into the radio demodulates these signals. In other words, it separates the useful signals (audible frequencies) from the carrier signal (inaudible).

FM, TMC function sequence 

For the FM radio frequency band, the useful signals are broadcast using frequency modulation (FM). The FM tuner integrated into the radio demodulates these signals. In other words, it also separates the useful signals (audible frequencies) from the carrier signal (inaudible).

RDS function requirements

As well as the normal radio program, many radio stations (FM) transmit additional digital information such as the station name, the program type (PTY) (e.g. pop, culture, etc.) and traffic program identification. The additional digital information is evaluated and displayed by the radio.
