Remove/install SAM control unit with fuse and relay box in trunk - AR54.21-P-1258TA

MODEL 211.2 up to 1.6.08 except CODE (809) Model year 2009

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and store basic data from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) in STAR DIAGNOSIS temporarily Only when installing new rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Transfer temporarily stored basic data to the new rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2 Remove left interior trim in the side of the of cargo area (1) and fold up sound insulation   AR68.30-P-1180T
3 Remove hazard warning triangle    
4 Unscrew bolt (2), remove the control unit bracket (3) and place to one side On vehicles with code (220) Parktronic system (PTS)
or with code (527) COMAND APS (with navigation)
or with code (530) COMAND APS USA (with navigation)
or with code (860) TV tuner
or with code (863) TV tuner, digital/analog or with code (889) Keyless Go
or with code (529) HIGH Class Japan and code (404) Left multicontour seat
or with code (529) HIGH Class Japan and code (433) Left dynamic seat, incl. multicontour seat
or with code (529) HIGH Class Japan and code (475) Tire pressure monitor (Siemens)
or with code (529) HIGH Class Japan and code (550) Trailer hitch
 
5 Detach wiring harness (4) from bracket (5) and place to one side    
6 Unscrew nuts (6)    
7 Unscrew bolt (7)    
8 Disconnect electrical connectors on rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and remove the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) from the cargo area IMPORTANT The electrical connector leading to circuit 30 must be the first to be disconnected and the last to be contacted. The number of electrical connectors depends on the vehicle equipment.  
9 Check fuse and relay assignment at the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) Only when replacing the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
