	Check
	Risk of explosion  from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury  through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries	No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.	AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

	Charging
2	Connect charger to battery	Do not reverse polarity. Risk of short circuit! Make sure that the vent hose and stop plugs of the battery are installed in the correct position. Escaping battery vapor can damage the vehicle paint. Connect positive pole of battery charger to positive pole of battery. Connect the negative terminal of the charger to body ground (2) only (not to the battery negative terminal  ) so that the battery control unit (N82) (up to 31.5.06) or battery sensor (as of 1.6.06) can detect charging of the battery.
3	Charge battery

		The battery charging period is dependent on the charge level of the discharged battery. The battery must be charged using an approved charger . The battery is sufficiently charged when the displayed charging current shown is < 25A material.
4	Disconnect battery charger	Switch off charger beforehand. Risk of arcing.
