Task 

The media interface control unit serves as universal unit connecting point to connect portable devices to the audio system. In this context, the media interface control unit has the following tasks:

• Reading in of signals 
• Transmitting signals 

Reading in of signals 

Signals are read in via the following connections:

• Direct lines 
• Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) 

Direct lines 

The following signals are read in via direct lines:

• Audio signals and data over media interface connector (X18/70)
• Electronic wake-up for MOST

MOST 

The following signals are read in via MOST:

• Control and operating signals from COMMAND control unit (A40/3)

Transmitting signals 

The signals are transmitted via the following connections:

• Direct line 
• MOST 

Direct line 

The media interface control unit transmits the control and operating signals via the media interface connector to the connected portable devices.

MOST 

The media interface control unit transmits the control and operating signals to the COMMAND control unit via MOST.
