Checking oil pressure of power steering pump - AR46.30-P-0100SXA

MODEL 221, 216 with ENGINE 275 without electrohydraulic power steering (EHPS)

REMOVING Removing     
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
NOTES Before opening the hydraulic system, thoroughly clean the area surrounding the separation point. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system    
1 Extract oil from power steering expansion reservoir SPECIAL TOOL *210589007100
2 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling Vehicles without top protection AR61.20-P-1105SX
Vehicles with code Z07 Top protection AR61.20-P-1105SXS
3 Detach return line (2) and pressure line (3) from rack-and-pinion steering; to do so, remove bolt (4) IMPORTANT Collect the discharged oil using a rag.  
4 SPECIAL TOOL Attach test hose (02) and return line (2) to rack-and-pinion steering and fix clamping plate in place TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.20-P-1003-01M

5 Attach pressure line (3) to test SPECIAL TOOL hose (03) using SPECIAL TOOL mounting plate (04)    
6 SPECIAL TOOL Connect testing unit (01) to SPECIAL TOOL test hoses (02, 03) SPECIAL TOOL *124589062100
7 Fill power steering pump and bleed   AR46.30-P-0010SX 
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

8 Start engine and increase engine speed to approx. 1000 rpm    
INSPECT Checking     
9 Close throttle cock on SPECIAL TOOL testing unit (01) and check maximum operating pressure NOTES Only carry out the test briefly so that the oil temperature does not rise unacceptably. *BE46.30-P-1001-01F 
10 Turn off engine    
11 Extract oil from power steering expansion reservoir SPECIAL TOOL *210589007100
12 SPECIAL TOOL Detach testing unit (01)    
13 Detach pressure line (3) from SPECIAL TOOL test hose (03) IMPORTANT Collect the discharged oil using a rag.  
14 Detach return line (2) and SPECIAL TOOL test hose (02) from rack-and-pinion steering IMPORTANT Collect the discharged oil using a rag.  
INSTALLING Install     
15 Attach pressure line (3) and return line (2) to rack-and-pinion steering IMPORTANT Install new sealing rings.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.20-P-1003-01M 
16 Fill power steering pump and bleed   AR46.30-P-0010SX 
17 Install lower engine compartment paneling Vehicles without top protection AR61.20-P-1105SX
Vehicles with code Z07 Top protection AR61.20-P-1105SXS
