The following operation steps are shown on the left component for model 221 and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Expose spot welds on front wheelhouse (1) and section (1.1) (areas A, B and C).
- Cut out spot welds on front wheelhouse (1) and section (1.1) with
spot weld milling cutter or
ball cutter (areas A, B and C).
Cut through two sheet panel thicknesses (area A).
- Heat section (1.1) in cross-hatched area with
hot air gun.
Cross-hatched area is additionally glued.
- Remove section (1.1) from front wheelhouse (1).
- Expose spot welds on section (1.2) (area D).
- Cut out spot welds on section (1.2) with
spot weld milling cutter (area D).
- Remove section (1.2) from front wheelhouse (1).
- Punch dia. 7 mm holes in front wheelhouse (1) (area F).
- Punch dia. 7 mm holes in front wheelhouse (1) (areas E and G).
- Grind connection surfaces on front wheelhouse (1) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas with
round wire brush.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Grind cross-hatched areas on front wheelhouse (1) around holes with
round wire brush.
- Using zinc dust paint, coat insides of spot weld flanges and riveted joints that were not additionally bonded.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint to avoid adhesion problems (areas H, I, J, K and L).
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
