ABC control unit, component description - GF32.50-P-4501LE
MODEL 221.0 /1 with CODE (487) Active Body Control (ABC) as of Model Year 2009 /modification year 08
MODEL 216.3 except CODE (489) AIRMATIC (air suspension with continuous damper adjustment) as of Model Year 2009 /modification year 08
Shown on model 221
Location
The ABC control unit is located on the accessories plate in the front passenger footwell.
Task
The ABC control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Chassis CAN (CAN E)
Direct line
The following sensors and signals are read in via a direct line:
- Circuit 30
- Circuit 31
- ABC pressure sensor (B4/5)
- Left front ABC pressure sensor (B4/8)
- Right front ABC pressure sensor (B4/9)
- Left rear ABC pressure sensor (B4/10)
- Right rear ABC pressure sensor (B4/11)
- Left rear level sensor (B22/7)
- Left front level sensor (B22/8)
- Right front level sensor (B22/9)
- Right rear level sensor (B22/10)
- Left front body acceleration sensor (B24/3)
- Right front body acceleration sensor (B24/4)
- Right rear body acceleration sensor (B24/6)
- ABC lateral acceleration sensor (B24/12)
- ABC switchover valve (Y5), model 221/216 as of YoM 10 with engine 157, 278
Chassis CAN
The ABC control unit receives information from the following control units via the chassis CAN:
- EZS control unit (N73)
- ESP control unit (N47-5), model 221 as of modification year 09 model refinement package
- Steering column tube module (N80)
- Central gateway control unit (N93)
The central gateway control unit receives signals from the following control units and routes these further on to the ABC control unit:
- Rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)
- Left door control unit (N69/1) (model 216) or left front door control unit (N69/1) (model 221)
- Right door control unit (N69/2) (model 216) or right front door control unit (N69/2) (model 221)
- Left rear door control unit (N69/3) (model 221)
- Right rear door control unit (N69/4) (model 221)
- Upper control panel control unit (N72/1)
Evaluating input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
Components are actuated via the following lines:
- Direct line
- Chassis CAN
Direct line
The following components are actuated with a direct line:
- ABC front axle valve unit (Y36/1)
- Rear axle ABC valve unit (Y36/2)
- ABC intake throttle valve (Y86/1)
Chassis CAN
All the information for requesting output of fault messages in the instrument cluster (A1) is transmitted from the ABC control unit to the central gateway control unit via the chassis CAN. The central gateway control unit routes this information to the instrument cluster via the central CAN (CAN F).
The ABC control unit is configured automatically via the chassis CAN (engine variants, model series variants, national variants and modification year variants).
