Remove/install rear axle shaft flange and angular ball bearing - AR35.20-P-0130CW

REMOVING Removing     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by pinching or crushing when  working on springs or spring bodies that are under tension Use only approved tensioning devices; shield off hazard area if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0001-01A
    Inspect special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection). Wear protective gloves.  
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
    NOTES While working on the rear axle care must be taken to ensure that the surfaces of all aluminum components do not get any scratches, cracks and notches. Otherwise the service life of the of the parts will be reduced.  
1 Remove left or right rear wheel Model 172 AP40.10-P-4050V
    Model 204, 207 AP40.10-P-4050CW
2 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift Model 172 AR00.60-P-0100T
    Model 204, 207 AR00.60-P-0100CW
3 Detach twelve-point collar nut (1) from rear axle shaft (2)   AR35.30-P-0115-01TX 
4 Remove rear brake disk (3) Model 172 except model 172.475 AR42.10-P-0220W
    Model 204 without engine 156 AR42.10-P-0250CW
    Model 204 with engine 156 AR42.10-P-0250CMG
    Model 207 AR42.10-P-0250EW
5 Remove parking-brake brake shoes (8) Model 204 AR42.20-P-0530CW
    Model 207 AR42.20-P-0530EW
6 Pull rear axle shaft flange (4) out of angular contact ball bearing (5)   AR35.20-P-0130-06SX 
    SPECIAL TOOL Press Fig 5

7 Detach link rod (9) from torsion bar (10)    
8 Tension left or right rear spring NOTES Do not use an impact wrench. Otherwise, controlled tensioning of the rear springs cannot be guaranteed. AR32.20-P-0200-06CW

9 Raise wheel carrier (7) with transmission jack and transmission platform until the rear axle shaft (2) is approximately horizontal Transmission jack 2.0-7.0 t gotis://H 00.10 01.0  
    Transmission platform for passenger cars and commercial vehicles qotis://A 25/35/49 02.0  
10 Press the rear axle shaft (2) as far as possible out of the angular contact ball bearing (5)    
11 Detach angular contact ball bearing (5) from wheel carrier (7) IMPORTANT To unscrew the four bolts (6), press the rear axle shaft (2) slightly to one side.  
12 Clean water drain in wheel carrier (7)   AR35.20-P-0115-03CW 
13 Pull bearing inner race off the rear axle shaft flange (4)   AR35.20-P-0130-02TX

INSTALLING Install     
14 Mount angular contact ball bearing (5) on wheel carrier (7) IMPORTANTInstallation  : Put all bolts (6) in position and tighten diagonally.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA35.20-P-1001-06D 
15 Press rear axle shaft (2) into angular contact ball bearing (5)    
16 Lower wheel carrier (7)    
17 Unclamp rear spring NOTES Do not use an impact wrench. Otherwise, controlled release of the rear springs cannot be guaranteed AR32.20-P-0200-06CW

22 Mount and secure twelve-point collar nut (1) on rear axle shaft (2) IMPORTANT Install new twelve-point collar nut (1) AR35.30-P-0115-01TX

23 Mount left or right rear wheel Model 172 AP40.10-P-4050V

24 Remove vehicle lift safety device from vehicle Model 172 AR00.60-P-0100T
