Update map data status for COMAND navigation system - AP82.85-P-8252A

  Prepare update    
1 Check whether a map data update is available to the customer free of charge * Map update

Service Information: Free map updates for COMAND

2 Activation code for map data update available in Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc) * not for USA

Service Information: Order of card activation code for navigation units with hard disk navigation
MODEL 463 with CODE XZ2 (Model year 2013)

Moving the engine hood to the vertical position: 
Detach left and right clamping levers at the upper left and right hinges.

DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A
5 Connect battery charger Only switch on the charger after it has been connected!

6 Switch ignition lock to position "1" (circuit 15R)    
7 Switch on COMAND controller unit    
8 Remove CDs or DVDs from the COMAND disc drive When updating using the master DVD  
9 Connect the Blu-ray player of the diagnostic system to the front USB connection ports of the COMAND control unit When updating using the master Blu-ray disc
Alternatively, connect the master USB stick to the front USB connections of the COMAND control unit.
The option to update using Blu-ray is not available in every market. If no Blu-ray option is available: ↓
Carry out update using the master DVD or USB stick.
 
  Update     
10.1 Insert the master DVD and update map data MODEL 117, 156, 164, 166, 169, 172, 176, 197, 204, 205, 207, 212, 216, 218, 221, 222, 231, 242, 245, 246, 251, 463
When updating using the master DVD
Enter the activation code provided in VeDoc and start with the update.
Any error messages that may be displayed should be ignored.
The update process can take a while to complete. The progress bar indicates how much has been completed.
If there are multiple master DVDs, follow the instructions on the COMAND display.
 
10.2 Insert master Blu-ray disc into the external Blu-ray player of the XENTRY kit and update map data MODEL 205, 222 with CODE 531 (COMAND Online)
When updating using the master Blu-ray disc (for NTG 5.0)
Enter the activation code provided in VeDoc and start with the update.
The progress bar indicates how much has been completed.
The update version can subsequently be called up via "Navi", "Options" and "Map version".
 
10.3 Start the menu from the master USB stick and update the map data MODEL 117, 156, 166, 172, 176, 204, 205, 207, 212, 218, 222, 231, 242, 246, 463
When updating using the master USB stick (from NTG 4.5 onwards)
Enter the activation code provided in VeDoc and start with the update.
The update process can take a while to complete.
The progress bar indicates how much has been completed.
 
11.1 Remove all master DVDs from the vehicle and insert the previously removed CDs or DVDs MODEL 117, 156, 164, 166, 169, 172, 176, 197, 204, 205, 207, 212, 216, 218, 221, 222, 231, 242, 245, 246, 251, 463
After updating using the master DVD
 
11.2 Remove the master Blu-ray disc from the Blu- ray player and disconnect the front USB connectors MODEL 205, 222
After updating using the master Blu-ray disc (for NTG 5.0)
 
11.3 Remove USB stick from the front USB connections MODEL 117, 156, 166, 172, 176, 204, 205, 207, 212, 218, 222, 231, 242, 246, 463
After updating using the master USB stick (from NTG 4.5 onwards)
 
12 Switch off COMAND control unit    
13 Switch off ignition

14 Disconnect battery charger Switch off charger before disconnecting!
