MODEL 204.0 with CODE (359) TELE AID emergency call system
Function requirements
- Status "circuit 30 ON" or "circuit 15R ON"
- Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand (emergency call system) (TELE AID) system authorized and operating error-free
- Each vehicle-related service is authorized separately
- An emergency call system control unit (N123/4) communication module authorized for the corresponding vehicle-related service is configured ex-factory with the telephone number of the corresponding service provider
- The customer is registered and authorized in the Customer Assistance Center (CAC)
- A mobile telephone network is available in adequate strength and quality
- One of the following vehicle-related services is present:
- Manual or automatic TELE AID emergency call (E-call)
- MB-Info call
- Breakdown assistance (Roadside Assistance)
- Vehicle tracking
- Vehicle remote door unlock
Depending on the equipment installed one of the following control units will be installed, hereafter referred to as the "master control unit":
- COMAND controller unit (A40/3), with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer
- Radio (A2), with code (494) USA version
- Radio, with code (510) Audio 20 with CD changer
General
Irrespective of the type of vehicle-related service rendered (e.g. MB-Info call), once the SMS has been sent an immediate voice contact is established with the CAC whereupon the customer can talk to a service receptionist.
Voice connection function sequence
The voice control system microphone (B25/7) is used for voice commands; it is integrated into the overhead control panel control unit (N70). The signals from the voice control system microphone are sent via a discrete line to the "master control unit".
The "master control unit" then loops through the voice control system microphone signals and forwards them to the communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit.
The communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit transmits the voice control system microphone signals to the CAC. The communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit transmits and receives the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:
- Discrete line
- Frequency switchover control unit (N96), with code (389) Mobile phone preinstallation with universal interface, USA/ Canada
- Discrete line
- Multifunction antenna (A28/11)
Voice output takes place exclusively via the center instrument panel speaker (H4/27). This is read in via a discrete line by the emergency call system control unit.
At the same time, the emergency call system control unit in vehicles with code (810) Sound system sends a mute signal via a discrete line to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) to mute the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker (H4/1)
- Right front door speaker (H4/2)
- Left rear door speaker (H4/3)
- Right rear door speaker (H4/4)
- Bass speaker (H4/29)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)
Normally the voice connection is deactivated by the CAC.
The voice control system microphone consists of 2 microphones. However, only one microphone is used for voice input.
The establishment of a voice connection to the CAC is interrupted by the communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit after several unsuccessful dialing attempts.
In the event of a malfunction in the multifunction antenna (e.g. defective because of a rollover), the communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit automatically sends and receives the mobile phone signals and data via the emergency call system antenna (A2/52).
For vehicles without code (810) Sound system, the emergency call system control unit sends a mute signal via a discrete line to the "master control unit" to mute the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
