Video mode, general
The DVD drive of the COMAND controller unit supports playback of video DVDs. With code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer or code (528) COMAND incl. DVD changer a DVD changer is integrated. With code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) via single-DVD drive is installed.
When the video menu is selected on the application bar and then the menu item DVD Video is selected on the function bar, the video image is displayed on the audio/COMAND display (A40/8).
Operating notes, general
The system can be operated using the:
- Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9)
- Operating panels on the COMAND controller unit
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
Function sequence for video mode
The COMAND controller unit transmits the picture data to the Audio/COMAND display via a low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) line.
On vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the audio signals are relayed directly to the speaker system by the COMAND control unit.
On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the COMAND control unit transmits the audio signals over the media-oriented system transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3).
The sound system amplifier control unit processes the audio signals and relays them for output via direct lines to the following speakers.
The video CD/DVD function is only available for a stationary vehicle. When the vehicle is moving, only acoustic playback remains active and - for safety reasons - a warning is shown on the Audio/COMAND display.
