Function requirements 

• Status "circuit 15R ON"
• Communication with the supplemental restraint system control unit (N2/10) operating error-free
• Automatic crash recognition incl. crash level by the SRS control unit

General 

In the event of an accident, an automatic Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand (emergency call system) (TELE AID) emergency call is immediately issued. An emergency call is sent out regardless of the severity of the accident.

SRS control unit data function sequence 

The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) receives the crash data, on the one hand via a discrete line as digital crash signal from the SRS control unit, and on the other hand in the following way (redundantly) incl. crash level:

• Chassis CAN
• Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
• Diagnostic CAN

In the same way as for the crash information incl. crash level, the SRS control unit transmits a LIFE signal every t = 500 ms (the LIFE signal indicates that the SRS control unit is active). This enables the emergency call system control unit to permanently monitor communication with the SRS control unit and the proper function of the crash recognition.
