General 

A distinction is made between the following 2 versions for the mobile phone system:

Both systems use Bluetooth technology for data transfer. The mobile phone system comprises the following component functions:

IMPORTANT Detailed information on the function sequence for the overall function and the component functions is included in the system description for the "Mobile phone system".

A telephone call can be built up and terminated through:

Supplemental information on address book 

The user can manage his contact data in the address book function (view, edit, complete, delete and add new). The address book contains the address entries saved in the "master control unit". In addition, in vehicles with comfort telephony, data can be loaded from the mobile phone's phone book into the address book of the "master control unit".

The data from the mobile phone's phone book are then permanently available, even if the mobile phone is no longer inserted in the cradle.

Address entries can only be removed by deleting individual entries or by deleting the entire address book. The Bluetooth interface of the mobile phone and the Bluetooth antenna (A2/91) can be used to transmit data from other external devices (e.g. PDA, laptop, etc.) into the address book. These data are then permanently available as address entries. The address-relevant applications for telephony can be started directly via the address book entries and provided with the data stored.

IMPORTANT In vehicles with basic telephony, data cannot be loaded from the mobile phone's phone book. It is only possible to enter or select a phone number in the following ways:

Address entries can contain the following:

IMPORTANT A total of 50 entries with voice commands (voice tags) is available for the voice control system. The address entries stored in the "master control unit" and the data loaded from the mobile phone's phone book are displayed in the address book.

IMPORTANT The mobile phone is taken out of operation by pressing the On/Off button on the mobile phone and subsequently removing the SIM card.

IMPORTANT The SIM card may only be removed after the mobile phone has been deactivated in order to prevent permanent damage to the memory chip installed on the SIM card. When the mobile phone is switched on again, the PIN has to be reentered.

Private mode (comfort telephony only) 

When in "private mode" the user can make a telephone call without other vehicle occupants being able to hear the conversation. This is achieved by taking the mobile phone out of the cradle during the phone call and thus disconnecting it from the "master control unit". The phone call is retained on the mobile phone and can be continued on this. It is also possible to continue an existing phone call in handsfree mode by inserting the mobile phone back into the cradle.

Voice output 

In vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the voice output takes place in handsfree mode from the "master control unit" via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) and from there directly via discrete lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT On model designation 204.0 with code (810) Sound system, the right rear surround speaker is integrated into the bass speaker (H4/29).

IMPORTANT On model designation 204.2 with code (810) Sound system, the left rear surround speaker (H4/54) is installed in the left D-pillar and the right rear surround speaker (H4/57) in the right D-pillar. The bass speaker (H4/29) is installed in the left load compartment.

In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, with basic telephony and comfort telephony the voice output in handsfree mode takes place from the "master control unit" directly via discrete lines to the following speakers:
