Task

The audio/COMAND display serves for uniform depiction of the user-relevant navigation, control and information windows as well as the screen for the video, TV and internet applications, if present on the vehicle. For this purpose the audio/COMAND display reads in the data via the following connections and depicts them visually where applicable:

Direct inputs

The Audio/COMAND display has the following connections:

Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN)

The exchange of control data with the individual components as well as diagnosis takes place via telematics CAN (CAN A).

Low voltage differential signal (LVDS) connection

This standardized digital interface is used to receive picture and video information from the audio equipment.

IMPORTANT The movable audio/COMAND display also has an addition short Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) line adapter inside the display unit, whose characteristics are optimized for the display motion sequence.

Design

Either a stationary or movable display is installed depending on the equipment variant and model year.

Function

The display and menu display are transmitted digitally over an LVDS line by the audio equipment and shown on the Audio/COMAND display.
