| Remove wheel. | Model 171 | AP40.10-P-4050V |
| Detach jammed balance weight (43a) with assembly tool | ||
| Remove bonded balance weight (43a) with removal tool | Do not use hard, pointed or sharp-edged tools. The surface of the disk wheels will otherwise be damaged.Loctite 7200 | |
| Remove valve element from valve (43g) | ||
| Draining TIREFIT sealant out of tires | After using TIREFIT tire sealant | AR40.10-P-1080A |
| Position the press-off blade of the tire mounting device on the tire bead flank | Do not position bead breaker shovel on tire sidewall. The carcass will otherwise be damaged. On vehicles with code (470) Tire pressure monitor, do not position the bead breaker shovel near the valve (43g) on the inside and outside of the tire. The tire pressure sensor (A69/1 to A69/4) will otherwise be damaged. Do not position the bead breaker shovel on the bead flank opposite the valve (43g). This is to prevent damage to the wheel sensor. |
|
| Press inner and outer bead flank over safety bead seats and into drop center of disk wheel | ||
| Fasten disk wheel on tire mounting device | ||
| Apply coating of assembly paste onto disk wheel flange and tire beads | Do not grease the tire pressure sensor. | |
| Position disk wheel on the tire mounting device | Position the disk wheel so that the valve (43g) is 10 cm behind the assembly head, viewed in the direction of rotation (arrow) of the disk wheel. | |
| Align mounting head at small distances (X, Y) to disk wheel | ||
| Use assembly lever to lever the tire beads over the mounting lug of the mounting head and detach the tire from the disk wheel | On vehicles with code (470, 475) Tire pressure monitor, force must not be applied to the tire pressure sensor. It will otherwise be damaged. With MOE tires: Push the tire into the drop center; to do so, position the hold-down tool on the upper side of the bead flank. Then position the hold-down tool on the lower side and detach the tire. |

| Checking | ||
| Check condition of disk wheel | AR40.10-P-1010-01A | |
| Check tire pressure sensor (A69/1 to A69/4) and valve body (3) in the installed condition for damage | Vehicles with code (470) Tire pressure monitor Do not remove tire pressure sensor A69/1 to A69/4). Do not retighten the union nut (2). The tire pressure sensor (A69/1 to A69/4) will otherwise be damaged. Replace all components, if the union nut 2) or tire pressure sensor (A69/1 to A69/4) are visibly loose or damage can be detected: Replace tire pressure sensor (A69/1 to A69/4). |
AR40.15-P-0080CW |
| Install new valve (43g). | Vehicles without tire pressure monitor | |
| Clean tire pressure sensor (A69/1 up to A69/4) | Vehicles with code (470) Tire pressure monitor Wipe off dirt with a clean, lint-free cloth only. Do not use compressed air, solvents or cleaners. The tire pressure sensor (A69/1 to A69/4) will otherwise be damaged. | |
| Attaching | ||
| Apply coating of assembly paste to shoulders of disk wheel and tire bead of new tire | Do not grease the tire pressure sensor. Wide-tire mounting paste | |
| Position disk wheel on the tire mounting device | Position the disk wheel so that the valve 43g) is approximately 180° opposite the mounting head. | |
| Place new tire at an angle on disk wheel and align mounting head at small distances (X, Y) to disk wheel | Observe running direction on unidirectional tires. Observe the markings indicating the inside and outside of the tire. On vehicles with mixed tires observe the correct assignment of the tire to disk wheel. | |
| Pull tire over shoulder onto disk wheel with tire mounting device | Vehicles with code (470) Tire pressure monitor: Force must not be applied to the tire pressure sensor (A69/1 to A69/4). It will otherwise be damaged. With MOE tires: Position the hold-down tool on the bead flank and push the tire into the drop center. Then position the bead protector at the traction point. Load the tire beads as little as possible. |
|
| Align the match points of the tire and disk wheel relative to one another | ||
| Remove disc wheel with tire from tire mounting device | ||
| Remove valve element from valve (43g) | ||
| Inflate tires | The tire seating pressure must not exceed 3.3 bar. This is to prevent damage to the tire bead. The tire beads must slide evenly over the rim shoulder. If the tire does not spring into the drop center the tire must be turned Then inflate the tire further to a settling pressure of max. 4.0 bar to ensure optimum seating of the beads. Wide-tire mounting paste |
|
| Turn valve element into valve (43g) | ||
| Adjust tire inflation pressure to correct pressure. | See tire pressure label in the vehicle's fuel filler flap. | |
