Check and correct power steering oil level - AP46.00-P-4611V

INSPECT Check    
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. -
NOTES Before opening the hydraulic circuit of the power steering, thoroughly clean the surrounding area of the separation point. Even the smallest dirt particles introduced into the hydraulic components can lead to malfunctions and damage to the power steering    
1 Turn off engine    
2 Open engine hood and raise to vertical position    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Open/move to upright position/close engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000V
3.1 Remove the left engine intake air duct Engine 272, 113.989  
4 Remove the cap (1) from the expansion reservoir (2) of the power steering IMPORTANT Press the cap (1) downwards and turn counterclockwise through 90°.  
5 Wipe off oil dipstick (1a) with a fluff-free rag and seal the expansion reservoir (2) with cap (1) IMPORTANT Press the cap (1) downwards and turn clockwise through 90°.  
6 Remove the cap (1) again and read off the oil level on the oil dipstick (1a), correct the oil level if necessary IMPORTANT Observe the oil temperature and level marks on the oil dipstick (1a).
IMPORTANT To avoid measurement errors: hold the oil dipstick (1a) vertical.
IMPORTANT If the oil level is too low, determine cause and remedy against a separate order
 
    FLUID SPECIFICATION MB steering gear oil *BF46.20-P-1001-01A 
7 Seal expansion reservoir (2) with cap (1).    
8.1 Install left engine intake air duct Engine 272, 113.989  
9 Close engine hood    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Open/move to upright position/close engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000V
